June 24 ’24 – Queer Anime and Cartoons

This week’s topic is all about queer anime and cartoons that I enjoy. It’s really hard to find a good and normal queer anime and especially one that’s dubbed because there are a lot of crazy and disturbing queer anime out there and some normal ones, but they aren’t dubbed. Some people might not mind a subtitled show but for me I can’t focus on the show and reading at the same time so I usually get lost by the second episode but that’s just me. For the cartoon aspect there has been an increase in queer cartoons which I think is amazing! It’s important for kids to know they aren’t alone and being queer isn’t a bad thing.

I know that for me I always knew I was different. I especially knew when I hit 6th grade, but I also thought being gay was wrong and had never been exposed to anything regarding the queer community because there weren’t shows about it on TV but maybe if there was, I would have felt better about myself. I came out when I was 13 so I was lucky, but many kids don’t come out until years later because they feel unsafe but queer media helps kids and adults form a safe space for them to come out and be themselves and I think we need more of it!

I’m excited for this week because I love TV just as much as I love music! There will be a week where I do regular queer TV shows and Movies. I also have 1 maybe 2 more music weeks ready to go so I’m excited for those as well! I hope you find some new TV shows to add to your list if Anime and Cartoons are your thing!
