June 3 ’24 Introduction

Welcome to my blog! My name is Gabe (He/Him), however on all my social media accounts I go by Akeria for the sake of my brand. I fall into the “G” category of the LGBTQ+ community. I’m 23 and live with my boyfriend Shane, our almost 2-year-old dog “Peach” and an orange cat named Pumpkin that we saved from the streets a few years ago. I love my two 4-legged children so much. (I’ll post some pet photos after this)

After High School I originally wanted to be a cosmetologist. However, after 2 days of class I dropped out because I realized that it wasn’t what I wanted to do in life. At that time, I had been working at a Goodwill since I was 16 and decided I wanted to work my way up and be a manager. After 4 years of trying, I got promoted at a different Goodwill location where I was a lead up until last April. The whole time I was there I knew that I wanted to go back to school and find something that suits me better.

I quit last April and started at Lewis and Clark January of this year. I’m still technically working towards an associate degree in Graphic Design however I’m planning on switching after fall semester to Web Design instead. My end goal is to be a social media manager/marketer and work with small businesses, Indie authors, small time streamers, local drag queens, and whatever else might be thrown my way.

I’m really excited to start my “Akeria Street” blog and talk about queer culture. Every week I’ll be posting a topic relating to the queer community.

One week might be queer authors and every day I’ll recommend a different queer author or book and tell you about them. Then another week might be queer music artists where I’ll recommend an artist and suggest songs and talk about them with you.

This week is just going to be an introduction and more stuff about me so it’s going to be pretty boring but stay tuned for next weeks queer topic!
