Steven universe is my all-time favorite show! It’s a queer tv show that has a way deeper meaning than what’s on the surface. I didn’t like the first half of the first season because to me it seemed like a show just for kids because of how unserious it was. However, the more times I watched it I saw deeper meanings to the first half and how it was foreshadowing things in the later seasons. While the show has a lot of queer themes to it, the network it was made on cancelled the show after the creator wanted a queer marriage episode. After that episode Rebecca Sugar who is the creator had to fight for six more episodes to wrap up the ending along with a movie. After the movie it was renewed for a sequel, but I don’t necessarily enjoy the future 20-episode season. I also think because Sugar chose to have the queer wedding because it was important to them that the 6 final episodes were rushed and could have been better. Don’t get me wrong I loved them and bawled my eyes out and still do every re-watch, but more things could have gotten wrapped up and not feel so rushed. Sugar really put a lot of planning into this show and from the songs, backgrounds, animation, background songs, storylines, foreshadowing, and representation this is one of the best shows around and I highly recommend this! I seriously still find things that tie together when I re-watch it, it’s insane how much planning this must have taken. I cry at least every other episode it’s so good.
Steven Universe is streaming I believe on MAX or possibly Hulu. One or the other I’m not entirely sure!
Sorry for the late post my posts are scheduled to go live at 5:30 but for some reason they aren’t posting even though they are in scheduled so I have been having to go in and manually do it when I remember so my apologies! I also think I mentioned last post that its mid-term so I’ve been really busy this week, but I promise next week’s posts will be way better so stay tuned!
